Elizabeth Gray has been quietly running CommonAct Press for over five years now.

In her hands, CommonAct has grown into a healthy and successful Small Press. She is
responsible for the fabulous customer service and fast shipment of books our customers
have come to expect from CommonAct Press.

The range of tasks and roles she embodies, means they don't fit into just one title. All of
the day to day operations of CommonAct like sales, shipping and customer service, as well
as designing advertising and the coordination of book printing are her roles at CommonAct.
She has also developed the Environmental Footprint and Ancient Forest Friendly policies of
our small press.

Heck, she even designed and built this website.

Beth feels proud to be able to send good books out into the world, knowing they help
make communities better places to live, particularly when it improves the lives of those
whose voices have been diminished. She is happiest when her work reflects, or at least
does not contradict, her Indigenous values. A non-status, urban, Mi'kmaq mother and
activist, she may well be the only woman of Aboriginal ancestry running a publishing
company in Canada. If you know of another, please let us know. Maybe they could get
together, have some tea, and share stories.
Current Favourite Quote:

Another world is not only possible, she is on her way.
On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.
